Family Run Business
The history of our company goes all the way back to October 1984 when Donald Macleod, the founder of DM Design, began hand crafting furniture from his garage in Airdrie. A passionate joiner who had once worked in Govan as a ship builder, Donald Macleod’s aim was to create high quality designs for his customers. His passion for quality craftsmanship soon won him a loyal customer base, which allowed DM Design to grow into the UK-wide business it is today.
Today, DM Design remains true to its heritage and is still a family-owned business.
Our Showrooms & UK-wide Coverage
We have two dedicated showrooms in Scotland – Cumbernauld and Aberdeen. All of our showrooms display our most popular bathroom, kitchen and bedroom designs, with trained experts also on hand to give you any advice that you need.
As well as our showrooms in Cumbernauld and Aberdeen we also have design teams throughout the UK in the following locations:
Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Stirling, Falkirk, Ayr, Carlisle, Manchester, Leeds and Birmingham.
We take environmental issues seriously and as a lot of our work involves manufacturing, we ensure that we do our bit to be environmentally conscious. We’ve installed a biomass boiler as an innovative and environmentally friendly way to deal with the waste produced at our factory in Cumbernauld. This boiler is fed with a variety of old wooden doors, floors, worktops and offcuts from the houses that we renovate and serves to heat the factory. This is just one of many practises that we undertake to reduce our carbon footprint and preserve the environment. We are also proud to be a member of the Forest Stewardship Council.
Charity and Community Support
Beatson Cancer Charity
Our local community is at the centre of what we do and we sponsor a number of local clubs and societies. Charity work is also a core part of the DM Design ethos and we regularly participate in charity fundraising events.
One of our most recent charity events was in August 2015, with our Cumbernauld team completing the ‘Off the Beatson Track’ charity walk for the Beatson Cancer Charity. The team also followed this up by holding a yellow themed Halloween day in the office to raise more money for the Beatson Cancer Charity too.
